A lot of exciting action on the college gridiron today,  here’s my calls on some of today’s marquee matchups.

Saturday 3:30 P.M.

Virginia Tech (-7.5) over Virginia - 12 P.M.

Virginia’s offense has been a bug-a-boo all season and that has really been the case over the last three weeks as they have played some of the better teams.   Virginia Tech is the better team in this matchup and is playing at home.  They tend to dominate the Cavs in Blacksburg.

Oklahoma (-7.5) over Oklahoma St. - 8 P.M.

Oklahoma is a machine right now.  They really did look unstoppable against Texas Tech and they are extremely focused.  I don’t think we will see a let down here against Oklahoma St. and though the Cowboys are enjoying one of their finest seasons in recent history,  I don’t think they are going to be able to hang with the Sooners in this one.

Georgia Tech (+7) over Georgia - 12 Noon

If you saw the way Georgia Tech man-handled the University of Miami last week you would have to say that they can at least be in the game against Georgia.  I have been unimpressed by the Bulldogs all season long and I don’t see them getting a big lead on this methodical Georgia  Tech team.

Auburn (+14.5) over Alabama

File this under the category of rivalry.  Auburn has not looked good this season and Alabama has risen to new heights.  The Crimson Tide has to be feeling like they are on the road to an easy victory here.  That will plague them in this contest as they face a very motivated Auburn team looking to gain momentum for next season.

Florida (-16.5) over Florida St.

Florida was already a good team when the season began but they have gotten better.  The Ole Miss loss changed their mindset and ever since then they have been maxing out every week.  They know they need an impressive showing here against the Noles to slide into the BCS Title Game consideration.  Watch them do it.

USC (-31.5) over Notre Dame

USC smells blood and they will go after it like you know they will.  Like Florida,  the Trojans must continue to get impressive wins to slip into the BCS Title game.  Beating up on Notre Dame eventhough the Irish are not what they used to be,  still counts as a big win.  Notre Dame’s confidence has run out and they will run out of gas trying to stay with the Trojans.
