Here are the rest of this week’s picks
CLEVELAND (-3) over Houston
Do I have to pick this game? Setting the game at (-3) gives me nothing. This is really one of those games that could end up 17-14 or 20-17. I will lean to the home team who’s on a roll after beating the Bills on Monday Night. Houston is the model of inconsistency. Lose four in a row to start the season, win three in a row after that then hit another three game winning streak. They are conistently inconsistent.
Buffalo (-3) over KANSAS CITY
Either the Bills win this or they are official frauds. Off of the Monday Night loss at home, they must respond here against a Kansas City team competing for the title of worst in the league. Three points is not too much to ask them to cover.
TENNESSEE (-5) over NY Jets
Jets are still giddy after the win over the Pats two weeks ago. Lost in all that is the fact that they gave up 31 points in the game. That will comeback to bite them here and Tennessee takes their sole. You have to ride the Titans until they slip.
New England (+3) over MIAMI
Call me negative but I am not sold on this Miami team yet. They seem to be able to beat all of the teams they are supposed to beat but they struggle to do so. New England will be plenty motivated for the rematch and after losing to the Jets in their last game, they ought to be ultra prepared.
San Francisco (+10.5) over DALLAS
San Francisco does seem to be moving in the right direction and while I am reluctant to back them here after a win, I will do so because I don’t believe Dallas is o.k. yet. Dallas still looked rusty offensively against Washington and I think it may take some time for that rust to come off. San Francisco will be gritty and stay inside this number.
DETROIT (+9) over Tampa Bay
I think the Lions are a pathetic team and franchise that has no idea how to win and what it takes to win. With that said, I think the Bucs are laying too many points here especially off of the big win over the Vikings. Detroit will still lose but they may not lose by the amount of points required here. Then again, they are the Lions.
BALTIMORE (-1) over Philadelphia
Philadelphia is a team in a bit of a disarray right now. I don’t see them pulling it together quick enough to go into Baltimore to beat a Ravens team that was humiliated last week.
ST. LOUIS (+9) over Chicago
The Rams are another pathetic team but again, I think oddsmakers did a good job of finding a number that’s far enough out there they can cover and still lose the game. Let’s face it, losing is what teams like the Lions and Rams do best. You can’t beat these teams in the game of losing. However, we are talking pointspreads here and this number is big enough for the Rams to put together some half-hearted late comeback and get a score to cover the number. The back door is open my friends.
JACKSONVILLE (-1.5) over Minnesota
Both of these teams seem to be in the same boat. This is pretty much do or die for the Jaguars. They either get it done this week or they can forget about the 2008 post season. With that in mind, I think covering 1.5 points at home is not too much to ask.
Carolina v. Atlanta
This is will be a top rated key selection and will be posted on Saturday in the NFL Member’s Area.
Oakland v. Denver
Who do I choose? I will have to go with Denver at home against an Oakland team that is pathetic. The Broncos have owned the Raiders in this series anyway.
Washington (-3.5) over SEATTLE
Washington needs to get back in the win column after the division loss to the Cowboys on Sunday Night. Washington has earned their winning record and if they are to be considered a worthy contender in the NFC, they can’t lose two games in a row and they can’t lose to a losing team after getting beat by a division rival.
ARIZONA (+3.5) over NY Giants
I think this is a spot where the Giants could fall. I have gone against the Giants more this season than I have gone with them and it has not been fruitful. However, Arizona has something brewing and I think they could cause trouble for the Giants. Brandon Jacobs is banged up and that’s a problem and I don’t know that New York’s secondary can hang with the Cardinals’ passing attack. I will leans to the Cardinals at home.
Indianapolis (+3) over SAN DIEGO
Anyone who has watched the Colts over the last few weeks realizes that they are starting to pull it all back together. They were a little bit of a mess early on in the season but now they are starting to look like the Colts. With that said, I like them getting points against a San Diego team that has not gotten their act together yet.
