This week’s picks

Syracuse (+20) over NOTRE DAME
2:30 P.M. est. - Saturday

It’s just too hard for me to imagine Notre Dame winning by this margin.  They beat Washington by 26 and Washington has to be one of the three worst teams in Division I-A football right now.  Syracuse is not too far behind but I think they are relieved now that a decision has been made to fire Greg Robinson.  I think his fate and situation hung over this team’s head like a cloud.  It also hung over Robinson’s head.  Now the team and the staff can approach these games with a read “I don’t care” attitude.  This makes them unpredictable and it may be enough to have Syracuse hang around in this game.

LOUISVILLE (+7) over West Virginia
12 P.M. est. - Saturday

Louisville lost respect this season when they fell to Syracuse.  However,  this same team went out and beat South Fl.orida and Kansas St.  When Louisville is motivated,  they can play some good football.  They will be motivated in this game especially after losing a tough 38-31 battle in West Virginia a season ago.  Louisville’s defense has certainly improved but they have had to get a little more conservative on offense for this to happen.  It’s all for the best and it will help them here as they keep this game close all the way through.

CINCINNATI (-5) over Pittsburgh
7 P.M. est. - Saturday

Cincinnati has lost three in a row to the Panthers and they are hell bent on bringing that little streak to an end.  I think they will be ultra motivated for this contest and feeling confident after a string of wins over some pretty good opponents.  Cincinnati’s passing game will be a problem for Pittsburgh.  Their abilities to make big plays in the passing game will be the difference in this game.  Pittsburgh will rely heavily on their ground game but Cincinnati will gear up to shut that down.  In the end, I like Cincinnati in front of their home crowd.
